Membership Requirements

The Junior League of Greater Princeton (JLGP) welcomes all women over the age of 21 who demonstrate a commitment to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities, regardless of race, religion, or national origin.  There is no sponsorship requirement to join the JLGP.  All women who meet these criteria are warmly welcomed.

Membership in the JLGP provides women with the training and education to assist members in gaining the knowledge, skills, and expertise to be effective volunteers and community leaders.  JLGP members often have the opportunity to broaden their current skill set in a supportive environment by getting involved in the organization in areas where they have little experience but possess the desire to learn more.  JLGP members have access to numerous training and educational opportunities including leadership, community service, communication, and fundraising.

Membership in the JLGP does involve time and commitment. If you are willing to learn, grow, and share your expertise working with others, JLGP membership is for YOU!  Membership in the JLGP offers a unique and life-long volunteer experience.

New Member Obligations

1. Complete Training. All New Members will be invited (and strongly encouraged) to attend Super Saturday, a 3 hour introductory program for New Members held twice a year. You will also receive a course of training resources to be completed at your convenience in your first 3 months (or less) of membership. The trainings focus on the areas of leadership, volunteerism, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. Through lectures and exercises these trainings will support our ability to deliver effective community service.

2. Attend General Membership Meetings (GMMs) and Socials with a Purpose (SWAPs). GMMs are held approximately once a month, and several GMMs include a SWAP activity. All members are encouraged to attend these events when able. New members are required to attend one GMM and one other volunteer event within three months of joining.

3. Pay Dues. The New Member year membership dues are $160 plus a $25 administrative fee ($185 non refundable). This includes JLGP dues and dues to AJLI (Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc.). Dues are prorated based on the date you joined JLGP. Members who join in the January cohort will pay $80 for the remainder of the League year, plus a $25 administrative fee ($105 non-refundable). Your dues cover all administrative costs, which allows the majority of the funds we raise to return to the community.

4. Support Annual Fundraisers. New Members will be asked to support one of our annual fundraisers. This could include making a donation, helping with planning, or volunteering for a shift at the event. Any member obligation is proposed and voted on by the Active membership.
